The Itch Scratch

Enlightenment Sought, Student Ready

Who’s teaching who. We teach what we need to learn.

I decide to stop in at the park to do some dusk meditation. This park is beautiful and I love the contrasts of the different uses the park takes for different people. I myself enter with a purpose, find the greenest bit of grass in what’s become a paddock, lay down my blanket and straight in to it.

Who’s over there in the corner, oh just two young guys having some sunset bruskies, and a family far ahead in the foreground. I’m really quite alone. Gees the body is stiff, I better warm up with some yoga poses. I work myself into a standing head pose, ahhhhh I can feel all my worries disappear.

Then I hear the patter of feet and, “hey man, whatcha’ doin’?” I come down from my pose and I’m greeted by Christopher, a kid wanting to learn the head stand. Now he’s not my kid and I don’t have any of my own. I immediately go into the internal, “oh no, I hope his parents don’t think I am a pedophile or somethng,” so I consciously keep my distance. Keep my distance? From a kid! Now hang on a minute Anton, reframe this situation, operate out of love and service and enjoy. Sure enough on these terms, my meditation turns into a magical interaction between a kid with an inquisitive mind and half baked yogi.

After head stands and lotus position, cat pose and others, Christopher grabs my blanket, turns it around and he shows me the wonderful cartwheel. Who is the teacher now. Open mind, opens opportunities to share.

Thanks Christopher, I hope I am interrupted by you again.
